Privacy Policy
AmberLetters ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website and service, how we use it, and the choices you have. Please read it carefully.
By using AmberLetters, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Account information: your email address and a password when you create an account.
- Personal affairs content: the names, dates, account details, wishes, and other personal information you enter into your AmberLetters chapters. This content belongs to you and is used solely to generate your document.
- Photos: images you upload for property inventory or other sections.
- Communications: messages you send us by email or through a contact form.
Information collected automatically
- Log data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps when you access the service. This is standard web server logging.
- Session data: a secure cookie that keeps you logged in during your visit. It contains no personal information and expires when you close your browser or log out.
Payment information
We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full payment details. All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We receive only a confirmation token and your email address from Stripe to record that payment was completed.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and maintain your account.
- To generate the PDF document you request.
- To send transactional emails: account confirmation, password reset, purchase receipt, and gift code delivery.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To improve the service - we may review aggregate, anonymized usage patterns (never your personal content).
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your information to third parties. We do not use your personal affairs content for advertising, analytics, or any purpose other than providing the service to you.
3. How We Store and Protect Your Information
Your data is stored on servers provided by Hostinger. All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Your password is hashed using industry-standard algorithms and is never stored in plain text.
Your personal affairs content - the information you enter into your chapters - is stored in a private database accessible only through your authenticated account. We do not read, process, or analyze this content except as required to display it back to you and generate your PDF.
Despite these measures, no system is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to keep your login credentials private.
4. Third-Party Services
We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate AmberLetters:
- Stripe - payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.
- Hostinger - web hosting and server infrastructure.
- Email delivery provider - to send transactional emails. Your email address is shared with this provider solely for the purpose of delivering messages you have requested.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or other advertising trackers on this site.
5. Cookies
We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. It is a functional cookie necessary for the service to work. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so will prevent you from logging in.
6. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access your data: You can view all your entered information by logging into your account at any time.
- Export your data: Generate a PDF of your document at any time - this is the full record of what you have entered.
- Correct your data: Edit any information in your account directly.
- Delete your account: Contact us at hello@amberletters.com to request deletion. We will remove your account and all associated content within 30 days. Note: because payment is a one-time fee, deletion does not entitle you to a refund.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account and its content for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, your data is removed within 30 days. We may retain anonymized, aggregate data (e.g., total number of users) that cannot be linked back to you.
8. Children's Privacy
AmberLetters is not directed at children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
